Kathy Hanson

I took my first pottery class as an undergraduate at UMass, Amherst. Clay was a wonderful revelation to me and I was soon hooked.  I have been making clay sculpture and pottery since.   

My pieces are colorful and sculptural and include a large Rainforest mural located in the Concord Hospital waiting area, as well as vases, wall pieces and functional dinnerware. 

I’m inspired by: the natural world and a pottery tradition that spans centuries. My work is a reflection of those inspirations.   

My home and studio in Deerfield, NH are surrounded by gardens and woods. My studio, a converted horse barn, is a beautiful, sun filled working space where I make pots and sculpture and teach painting classes.
