Art has always been a part of my life and brings me great joy!  I have been fortunate to share this passion for the arts as an elementary art teacher for the past 28 years with my students at Pittsfield Elementary School.

I have dabbled in several different art mediums such as clay and printmaking but recently found my artistic voice through creating fluid art paintings.  Fluid art is also known as acrylic pouring.  It is a type of abstract art that involves pouring layers of thinned or fluid acrylic paint onto a canvas and moving it around by tilting the canvas or blowing it out with your mouth or hairdryer.  There are numerous fluid art techniques and the possibilities are endless!  In my paintings, I gravitate towards the Dutch pour, bloom, and swipe techniques.  I love experimenting with color combinations and finding inspiration from nature, especially the ocean.  It is sometimes challenging to control the results in fluid art.  There is a lot of trial and error which drives my creativity to see just how far I can push the medium.  I enjoy modifying the composition by dragging a skewer or combing through areas of the painting to produce the overall composition that I envision.  One thing fluid art has taught me is to throw any thoughts of fear out the window!  If a composition is not working, scrape the paint off the canvas and start again!
